Guest Post by Meg Duerksen + Visa Gift Card Giveaway

This is a guest post written by meg duerksen from whatever.
when Clorox® asked me to write about making messes with my kids and cleaning them up
i said, "YES! we are GREAT at making messes and coincidentally . . . CloroxClean-Up® is my favorite cleaning product!"
they directed me to the Clorox Clean-Up Recipes for Fun--Where Mess Doesn't Matter!
have you been there?
it is FULL of ideas for crafts or cooking or even science experiments to get messy with kids!

i make crafts with my kids quite often and i LOVE to see them get really into their project no matter how messy it gets!
at the Recipe for Fun site i found an idea for using collage and color together to make a color wheel!
we got busy on the mess making.

mess making

i got out our stack of old magazines and began ripping out anything that was mostly one color.
we made a big pile of magazine pictures.
i cut a large circle from a piece of poster board and drew lines diving the circle into six equal sections.
i wrote the names of the colors in rainbow order on the wheel to know where to put each scrap.
then we started gluing down our pictures.

WHAT is this?!

i came across rubber cement at the grocery store and wondered if my girls had ever used it.
i knew i had never purchased it, so i got some.
my daughter was very curious!
"WHAT is this?!" she asked in a doubtful tone.
then i showed her how it had a brush INSIDE, and she was excited to use it.

using rubber cement

we also used a paint brush dipped in the glue bottle so we could all work at the same time.

it's just like painting but you paint with glue.

layering pictures to create collage

layering and layering . . . picture after picture . . . overlapping until there are no white spaces at all.

Rrrrip!

snip! snip! snip!

we almost always make our crafts at this table.
i painted it white almost 10 years ago.
my kids use everything on it!
and it always comes back to white with Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner.

i heart messy crafts!

i was out of town recently, and when i came home i noticed my 10 year old had organized this coca-cola crate
with our art supplies by color!
how cute is that?! i love it! we like to do lots of things around here in rainbow order.

craft supplies

my hands are all sticky!

pasting images

almost finished...

it was coming along quite nicely at this point.
there was glue all over our hands and the table!

mess.
they finished their color wheel collage but the mess still remained.

well...every Recipe For Fun needs a Recipe For Clean.

Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner combines a cleaner and the disinfecting power of Clorox Bleach letting you spray away messy play. It removes tough stains as well as the germs you can’t see, leaving your home sparkling clean and ready for the next recipe.

scattered mess
usually after craft time my kids quickly scatter leaving the mess for me to clean up.
but today my youngest surprised me by helping out!
she loves to use spray bottles and paper towels.

clean up! clean up! everybody... every where...

when she saw the marker and glue wipe right off she said, "this is going great!"

Bottle of Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner

with my daughter's help, a trash bag & Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner, the room was cleaner than when we started!

Music Video - Hazelnut Moon

This is an awesome Music Video created by Jamie Adkins from James Adkins Productions!! He created this video for his friend, Singer & Song Writer, Joel Wilhoughby. James used the Vintage Moon Man in the Video. The song is called Hazelnut Moon. Be warned... the song is super catchy and you'll be humming and whistling it all day! Seriously though, it's a great song and a really fun video to watch, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Amazing Digital Collage Poster & Bird Cage PNG Download

This fantastic Poster was Designed by Anja De Dobbelaere from Belgium! I hope you will click on it to see every gorgeous detail! She designed this for an Artistic Street Theater Festival ... doesn't that sound like so much fun?!!  Anja used a number of my images for her Poster design, including the Grand Bed image which she has colored in so beautifully! I believe she also used the Ephemera Floral Download that was put together by my pal Katrina.  Anja does not have a website yet, but you can see more of  her designs for this festival on her Pinterest page!

Click HERE for the PNG File with the Background Removed
Also this is a little gift from Anja for all of you. You may recall this Bird cage from my site, it originally had a background on it and Anja painstakingly removed every bit of it to give you another option. How nice for us!! Thank you Anja!

Snap The Conference

Just a little over a week ago, I attended an awesome blogging Conference, in Utah, called Snap!

Tauni and all of the girls did an amazing job at putting it together! It was the first one (I hope there will be many more!), but you would never have known it. Everything was so beautifully organized and very well thought out!

My first morning there I dragged my roomie Gina, from The Shabby Creek Cottagedownstairs, before she had her make-up on, so that we could meet up with my friend Heather, from The Sewing Loft, for breakfast. Yes, that's why she's hiding! Gina gave us both a little Instagram lesson and then promptly regretted it! haha!

Rhonna, Shelley and Me

I was super excited to finally meet the uber talented Rhonna Farrer for the first time. We have chatted via email and on twitter for quite awhile now, but it was great to meet in person. I had met Shelley from The House of Smiths, briefly at another conference last year, and enjoyed spending a little more time with her at Snap, she is also very talented!

Beckie Farrant, from Infarrantly Creative, and I took a wonderful Video Class at Snap taught by producer and author Roger Sherman. We both ended up having lunch with him and before we knew it, we were doing clips for the video! Becky is a real pro at this kind of stuff, I was so glad she was there goofing off behind the camera to help me get through it!

The gardens at the venue were just gorgeous!

We were there at the perfect time, since it was their annual Tulip Festival!

Here's a photo of Gina and I after we explored the gardens for a bit. This photo was taken by Ruthie from What's Cooking with Ruthie. I so wish I had a photo of her too, she is such a doll! She just sort of happened upon us and offered to take this photo. We ended up chatting with her for awhile and then we all had dinner together and had the best time! That's how it is at these conferences, friendships are formed everywhere... it's really one of my favorite things about going to these events!

Ana, Me, and Heather
Meeting Ana, from We Love Citrus, was another one of those chance meetings. She was sitting at the next table alone during breakfast the first morning, and I invited her to join us. We all adored her from the moment we met her and became instant friends! She has the loveliest Brazilian accent, although she lives in the U.S. now, and she has a super cute online shop, filled with all sorts of darling products!

I was so happy to spend some time with Wendy from The Shabby Nest.  I've been a big fan of her gorgeous DIY blog for quite awhile. We've connected online before, but I really enjoyed getting to know her in person, she is as sweet as she is talented!

I got to meet up with a bunch of the girls from Crafterminds, one of my favorite places to spend time online! Shown are Me, Heather, Jennifer from Always in Wonder, Sara from Mom Endeavors, Amy from Mod Podge Rocks, Vivienne from The V Spot, Heidi from Honeybear Lane , in the back row.  And in the front row are Katie fromSweet Rose Studio, and Alexa from I Love to Create.

Gina, Lisa, Me, Lisa, Heather, Ana & Amanda

I also got to meet Gina's friends... Lisa from Pennington Point, Lisa from Studio Jewel and Amanda from Everyday Elements. They were all as sweet as can be! Lisa Lehmann kept me sane on my way home, I had a bit a of an airport snafu, that resulted in an extra long travel day. Thankfully Lisa and I ended up having a flight together, which made the time go much faster!

Rumor has it we have Shelley to thank for the Dance party on the last night. So fun!

I wish I would have taken more photos, there are so many more people that I connected with, and some that I reconnected with, and I didn't get a single photo of them!

So here's the thing ... if you're a creative blogger, or want to be one, this Conference is the perfect event for you. The classes were excellent, the venue was perfect, the food was great, there was loads of fabulous swag, and I think I've already established that the people were amazing!! I'll definitely be going back to Snap next year, I hope to see you there!
